These days people are obsessed to know everything about famous people and celebrities. This in turn gave rise to television, newspapers, magazines, and other media paying too much attention to the personal lives of famous people such as public figures and celebrities. Though everyone has their own stand but I am of view that these celebrities are being treated unfairly by the media. In this article, I will further elaborate my view after taking into consideration the other side of the story too.
Everyone whether he/she is a celebrity or a ordinary person has the right of privacy. But some paparazzi constantly follow the famous people for the picture or the news that are very personal to them just to sell that news or picture to the highest bidder. They invade their private moments without any warning. Like each of us, they too have the right to go for movies with their friends or to go on a date with their loved one. Being a public figure does not deprive them of these private moments. Everyone deserves to have a personal life.
Media houses broadcast the news about their private lives, families and their relationships by going beyond its limits only to attract more viewers and to increase the TRP. Sometimes paparazzi and media make up rumors and celebrities have to face false accusations. What in my view is very wrong on the part of media. The celebrities related to entertainment industry are more subject to such unfair treatment then public figures of other spheres.
Just for mere entertainment purposes, a celebrity’s personal life is publicized, criticized and mocked at. Their intimate lives are discussed openly in news articles or magazine columns. Some programs like “Bollywood Talk” and “Miss Dhin Chak” concentrate more on such news like who is getting divorce, whose affair is with whom. I think such shows should broadcast only relevant news related to their lives or surroundings. Peeking into their personal lives is just unfair. Being a public figure creates serious issues not only for these celebrities but for their families too. They find it hard to survive independently in the society.
On the other hand there are some celebrities that themselves allow media to have a sneak peak into their personal lives. Just to grab few eyeballs or to remain in the limelight, they give controversial statements or perform questionable activities. These type of people provide the media the access to their personal or private lives. In such type of cases we cannot completely blame media.
At the end I want to conclude that just because any news related to celebrities sells like hotcakes does not give TV, newspapers and magazines right to invade their personal lives. In my view, they should cover only general interest news, rather than treating the celebrities unfair.
