PTE Practice Re-order Paragraphs

1. Re-order / Rearrange the sentence in such a way that make sense.

[A]. But categorization schemes are not always helpful in determining what one can do with or about organizational culture.
[B]. Much of the literature on organizational cultures is focused on categorizing the types of cultures.
[C]. It has taken the understanding of corporate culture far beyond what used to be called the informal organization.
[D]. This literature is both interesting and informative.

2. Re-order / Rearrange the sentence in such a way that make sense.

[A]. If caught in the act, they were punished, not for the crime, but for allowing themselves to be caught another lash of the whip.

[C]. Those fortunate enough to survive babyhood were taken away from their mothers at the age of seven to undergo rigorous military training.

[E]. Male children were examined at birth by the city council and those deemed too weak to become soldiers were left to die or exposure.

BECDA. B introduces the paragraph. EC is a mandatory pair, as ‘those’ in C refers to male children. Military training in ‘C’ is further described in ‘D’ & ‘A’.

  • Dear Author,
    In the first question the answer should be BADC. Why is it BDAC? In my opinion, A follows B as A is talking about the categorization mentioned in B.
    If I am wrong, please correct me.
    Thank you.

    • D can not be the first sentence because it start from “This consisted mainly..” Here “This… ” is not explained. Therefore it is not the topic sentence. However B should be the first sentence. Then E comes after C. D describes about the training. A describes the outcome of D. So the answer is BECDA
