Why Music Is Important In Schools
Model Answer
Few people opine that music is equally important as other academic subjects and should be taught even at the preschool level. I wholeheartedly agree with this statement because if the music is introduced as a subject in the early age, children can learn to stay calm and become more optimistic individuals in the later stages of their life. In the further paragraphs, I will discuss some points to support my opinion.
First of all, introducing music at the preschool level improves the learning skills of the students. When they are taught such interesting subjects, they develop more love and affection towards their school and feel like going there every day. Otherwise, when students are just taught the academic subjects, they consider school to be a boring place and find creative ways to avoid it.
Next, children who find it difficult to memorize numbers, alphabets, animal names or other things can be made to learn those with the help of music. Teachers can make musical tunes and make the lessons interesting for the students. Moreover, when students learn the things in such fun way, it remains in their mind for a more extended period.
Finally, when children are introduced to music as a subject in young age, they develop a more positive attitude towards life and enjoy their learning phase. This optimistic view of theirs helps them in becoming more calm and relaxed individuals in the later stages of their life. Later on, when they have to face the competitiveness of life, they stay peaceful with the help of music.
In conclusion, introducing music in the sooner stages of schooling brings in lots of benefits. Therefore, teachers, school administrations and governments of the nations should make it a compulsory subject in the school curriculum.
I would like to begin this discussion with a saying “music is a more potent instrument than any other for education”. New age educational institutions are keen on introducing music as a major subject in schools. Many believe that it is beneficial for the students to have music as a subject especially from the pre school level while there are a few who disagree with the aforementioned idea.
As there are both merits and demerits to this trend I am of the opinion that music should be introduced in schools specially from the pre school level and I have sufficient points to support my view.
To begin with, introducing music from a young age develops a child mentally, emotionally, physically and spiritually. Students feel motivated to come to school if they are being taught in more creative and unconventional ways. Teaching them alphabets in tunes and rhythms will enhance their memory. Using various musical instruments will enhance their coordination. Music makes children more social able and improves their mood.
Furthermore, a recent study concludes that music trains the brain for higher forms of thinking, music uses both sides of the brain, a fact that makes it valuable in all areas of development. Musical training permanently wires a young mind for enhanced performance.
However some people believe that students may get distracted by such activities and pay less attention to subjects like math and science hence they are against this idea. But I believe that through proper monitoring we will be able to overcome this tiny hurdle hence we should pay more attention to the bigger picture which is music indeed is a blessing in disguise to the development of young minds.
In conclusion, introducing music at a young age is like giving your child a gift that will last their entire lives.
These days it has become a growing trend in music as many believe that music is important as other subjects in schools, especially at preschool level. As such there are both merits and demerits to this trend, although I am of the opinion that music plays a vital role in schools and especially at preschool level.
There are myraid of arguments in favour of my stance. To begin with one of the most predominant fact that bolster my opinion is early learning helps children develop their minds. At preschool level, children are open to learning and have no restrictions in regard to their likes or dislikes. Studying music at preschool helps children develop their interests.
A study by American Institute reveals that learning at young age helps children in remembering for a longer duration to those who learn at a later stage. It is evident that children who learn music in preschool perform better in their life as compared to who do not study music in schools. Moreover, music relaxes our mind and soul and we get increase productivity.
In view of the arguments outlined above one can conclude that music plays a crucial role as other subjects in school and helps children in developing their personalities.

Recent days, there has been a colossal upsurge in the trends to see prodigies discussing the importance of music in schools. Few people believe that introducing music at an early age would bring more benefits to children, while others maintain a view that music cannot be taken as a mainstream subject because of fewer employment opportunities. This essay would further elaborate on both sides of the argument and come to a plausible conclusion.
To begin with, there are myriads of benefits contributed by introducing music at an early age in schools. First, the most conspicuous one is that music builds better self-confidence for the children. Musical education is also likely to develop better communication skills for students. Musical training helps language and reasoning abilities as it develops left side of the brain, which is responsible for cognitive thinking. Playing musical instruments help students to learn coordination and hence improves team skills. Hence, needless to say, introducing music at an early stage brings more benefits to students.
Another pivotal facet of the argument is that kids easily remember alphabets, numbers, and other topics when teachers choose to teach using a musical theme. Children often feel stress due to various reasons, music plays an important role in relieving the stress. With the help of music, students learn pattern recognition technique. Although there are very fewer employment opportunities in the music field, the music builds imaginative and intellectual curiosity. Therefore, benefits of learning music at an early age are too good to ignore.
To recapitulate from the arguments aforementioned, one can come to a conclusion that music plays a crucial role in developing a child in numerous ways, so it is recommended to introduce music in schools. With the help of music, students stay engaged in school to achieve in other subjects.
New age Educational Institutions, keen on including the art classes like Music, dance Eec-Cetra as a separate subject.
These days Music is being taught as one of the subjects in many schools. While most parents and civil society activists encourage this initiative; On the other hand, the critics still believe it is not vital to teach Art forms like Music in Schools. This topic will be discussing why Music should be encouraged to include in the preschools like other subjects.
In recent times, there is a paradigm shift in the mentality of parents. They want their children to be master in all areas. They are equally focusing on developing their child’s career in Art forms like Music. Many Celebrities like Britney Spears, American Pop Singer, Akon had learned music in their childhood. Influenced by the social and economic status of these celebrities, Parents are very much keen put their children in Music. Due to growing demand from parents, even schools are also don’t hesitate to invest money and build infrastructure to meet the needs. Teaching Music in preschool in-fact motivate the kids to come to school regularly, and some researches say that Music may influence the child’s behaviour.
On the flip side, Teaching Music and Other Art forms along with regular subject will circumvent the attention of students in learning essential communication, Math and Science subjects. However, this can be overcome by monitoring the students carefully.
In this competitive world, it is necessary for the schools and parents to keep the doors open on all sides and identify the talents at the young age. In my opinion, it is advantageous to introduce Music in Preschool.
